Renee Ferris

Registered Psychologist, Director
BA, PG Dip Psych, PG Cert Social Health, PSY0001267072

Renee has over ten years’ experience in private practice, working with clients across the age range. Today, Renee focuses her therapeutic practice and professional development on general adult mental health, trauma and attachment difficulties. She works with clients with an insightful and analytical approach towards a more informed and ultimately healthier concept of self. She also offers (adult only) ASD assessment and therapeutic services.

Whilst studying a Bachelor of Arts at Sydney University, Renee discovered her passion for psychology, embarking on a rewarding and enriching pathway to becoming a Registered Psychologist. This pathway included enrolling in a class led by an impressive tutor, who later became her husband of now ten years. They have a young son together and live in the lower Blue Mountains.

Ken and Renee have recently been granted the privileged opportunity of becoming the new owners of Riverlands Therapy Services, and are very much looking forward to this new role. Respectful of the quality establishment they were welcomed into eight years ago, they are hoping to further enrich and enhance this health professional service, originating in 1998, for clients and their referrers who make this business what it is today.

Renee focuses her therapeutic practice and professional development on adult mental health for men and women. Common presenting issues that contribute to Renee’s clinical load are Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief, Personality Disorders, interpersonal relationship challenges, development of self, workplace challenges.

With practice origins in Autistic Spectrum assessment and intervention for both children and adults, Renee now provides adult ASD assessment services, informed by a holistic review of developmental, interpersonal and psychiatric history.

Seeking therapy is a brave step for many, and one of the most rewarding elements of Renee’s role as a psychologist is being granted the privilege of hearing people’s story – their innermost thoughts and feelings, the intricacies and complexities that make us the profound individuals we are. Therapeutic rapport is the primary foundation for effective psychological support, but intuitive understanding of well renowned and researched modalities that will assist each client towards an enhanced sense of self and increased quality of life, is a professional responsibility that Renee highly prioritises. Renee works from an attachment framework, with interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy and some use of cognitive behavioural therapy influencing her approach, tailored to the needs of the client.

Renee works in Penrith on Mondays & Thursdays, and Blaxland on Tuesdays & Fridays.
