Renee has over fifteen years’ experience in private practice, these days working with adolescent and adult clients. Renee focuses her therapeutic practice and professional development on trauma processing and interpersonal capacity via attachment theory.

Trained in IFS, EMDR, Schema Therapy, and Gottman Couples’ Therapy, in addition to many other well-regarded therapeutic approaches, Renee is passionate about working with clients from an insightful and analytical approach. This can help inform a healthier concept of self, and ultimately, capacity for more enriching relationships.

In addition to her therapy commitments, Renee is responsible for Riverlands Practice management and development, design, ensuring that the client experience is paramount for those who entrust their therapeutic journey with us.

Whilst studying a Bachelor of Arts at Sydney University, Renee discovered her passion for Psychology, embarking on a rewarding and enriching pathway to becoming a Psychologist in Private Practice. This pathway included enrolling in a Uni class led by an impressive tutor, who later became her husband of now more almost 20 years. They have a beautiful young son together and live in the lower Blue Mountains.

Founded in 1998 by colleagues, Riverlands Therapy Services has been owned and operated by Ken and Renee since 2017. Respectful of the quality and long-standing establishment they are now caretakers of, Ken and Renee are committed to promoting and maintaining the quality of health professionalism this service represents, for clients and their referrers who make this business what it is today.

Renee focuses her therapeutic practice and professional development on complex mental health. Common presenting issues that contribute to Renee’s clinical load are Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief, Personality Disorders, interpersonal relationship challenges, development of self, workplace challenges.

Seeking therapy is a brave step for many, and one of the most rewarding elements of Renee’s role as a psychologist is being granted the privilege of hearing people’s story – their innermost thoughts and feelings, the intricacies and complexities that make us the profound individuals we are.

Therapeutic rapport is the primary foundation for effective psychological support, but intuitive understanding of well renowned and researched modalities that will assist each client towards an enhanced sense of self and increased quality of life, is a professional responsibility that Renee highly prioritises. Renee works from an attachment framework, with IFS, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Gottman theory and Mindfulness influencing her approach, tailored to the needs of the client.

Renee works in Penrith on Mondays & Thursdays, and Blaxland on Tuesdays & Fridays.
